For far too long, perfection has been a thorn in the side of progress for the skFigures website. Rather than (continue!) waiting for the 'right' photos, I launched the website with a few of my favorite 2013 Instagram snaps. Someday they'll be replaced but for now they'll do.
A spring snow was just what this Johnny Jump was waiting for after a droughty fall and winter. The contrasting colors of a violet bloom with an orange pot framing the white snow make this snapshot a particular favorite.
With string and sunshine, a gold nugget hops plant climbs away. Gardening - aka helping plants flourish - is a favorite pastime for me.
The Deer Isle Granite Company ships Crotch Island blocks quarried from a landing in Webb Cove Stonington, Maine. Getting the blocks loaded is a real world word problem - gross & axle weights and restricted bridges between the landing and the customers.
Treasures abound at the Brooksville Farmer's Market in Buck's Harbor, Maine on Tuesdays. After cool, foggy June days the Four Season Farm artichokes are especially amazing.
The Deer Isle - Sedgwick Bridge crosses an often foggy Eggemoggin Reach. The gray and green tones of the bridge, tree and fog are visually appealing and the image includes many (cliched!) business metaphors: building bridges, lifting fog, rising tide and shaded sapling to name a few.
